Invitation
Dear Fips-Mouche Members,
The Organising Committee of Sport Fly Fishing NZ (Inc.), your hosts for the 28th FIPS-Mouche World Fly Fishing Championships, extends a warm welcome to all FIPS-Mouche member countries to participate in these championships.
The Championships will be held in the Rotorua region of the North Island of New Zealand. Participants will be based at the Kingsgate Hotel within walking distance of the beautiful town centre. Rotorua is at the heart of NZ's geothermal area and the region abounds in hot pools, wonderful geothermal scenic areas and of course, many of New Zealand's well known fishing lakes and rivers.
The championship will be held across three areas of the region. Firstly to the north of Rotorua on spring fed Waihou river and the Waimakariri River. The lake fishing will be on two of the regions finest fishing lakes which are to the south of Rotorua and Lake Taupo, namely Lakes Otamangakau and Rotoaira (sponsored by Genesis Energy). Then lastly on the great Wanganui River near to the town of Taumaranui. All these venues offer only wild fish (brown and rainbow trout) and provide excellent fishing. In local competitions fish up to 65 cm are caught regularly.
We hope you will take this opportunity to experience the wonderfully diverse fishing possibilities which NZ has to offer. We feel sure that you will long remember you experiences at these championships and look forward to welcoming you Aotearoa New Zealand, the Land of the Long White Cloud.
Welcome
